Celebrating National Nonprofit Day and honoring the heart of philanthropy
Did you know that National Nonprofit Day is observed annually on August 17th? It recognizes and celebrates the invaluable contributions of all nonprofit organizations to society. Driven by passion and dedication rather than profit, these organizations play a vital role in addressing social, environmental, and humanitarian issues, making the world a better place for all.
National Nonprofit Day offers an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the incredible work being done by nonprofits (like us!) around the country and to express gratitude to those who dedicate themselves to these noble causes. It's a day to amplify their voices, raise awareness about their missions, and inspire others to get involved and make a difference in their own communities.
At the heart of every nonprofit are selfless individuals. We tip our hats to our staff, board, trustees, and volunteers, who devote their time, energy, and resources into making a difference. Their compassion, empathy, and sense of purpose helps drive our mission of keeping Knox County beautiful and rural. For without them we wouldn't be able to defend prime farmlands, precious wetland, riparian and woodlands and the pristine views we so enjoy as we drive through the countryside, from urban sprawl and industry development.
There are many ways you can support nonprofits, not just today but any day of the year. You can help by volunteering your time at any of our events, donating to one of our funds, becoming a member of our organization, or just helping spread awareness on social media. Any steps you take, no matter how small, help contribute to the collective effort in creating a more just, equitable, and compassionate world.
If you are interested in donating to our cause, your donation will be doubled when you donate to our Endowment Fund (find the link under the Donate tab on our website). Every dollar matched (for as long as matching funds are available!) helps us make a greater impact in protecting these lands from future development. Do something today that your future self will thank you for!
